Five Minute Friday: Same

It has been too long since I got to do Five Minute Friday and I have been missing it!  To find out more about Five Minute Friday, check out Kate Motaung.

So, without further ado, let's start the timer!

I'm not the same as I used to be.

 About eight years ago or more I underwent a drastic change.  I found out that I was a sinner, guilty before my Righteous Holy Creator and that I was worthy of punishment.  I also discovered that my Creator had sent His Son to this earth to die and take the punishment that I should receive and that if I would put my trust in Him and repent of the wrongs I had committed against Him, I could have forgiveness, mercy without charge.  Now things are completely different. 

I'm still the same me, but I'm also so different.

"What has changed?" you ask. I still have the same blonde hair, the same chubby cheeks, but inside my heart, Jesus, the Son of God, is King and reigns.  Therefore, I'm not the same as I was. 

What He desires for my life is good and I have begun to desire those things, too.  What He deserves is right; I have begun to want to give Him what He is worthy of. 

He has changed me.  Like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly over time and is still the same insect, but completely different, I have been made new and beautiful by the King of Glory.  And anyone who wants this transformation can receive it, too!

    Yes, being found by God and turning to him is the biggest change ever. Nothing stays the same. I appreciate how you focus on what God does change in us... we are not the same. I wrote about the frustration of feeling like we're not seeing enough change - a new tension and desire in us for heaven on earth. Two sides of the same coin, I guess. Thanks for joining FMF this week - it's been a few weeks since I pitched in too... always good to connect.

Five Minute Friday: Protect

Joining the FMF group for a great word: protect .       Protect.  The word inspires so much in me. Today especially as I reflect on my Grandmother's short life of 86 years.  She went to be with her (and my) Savior, Jesus Christ two years ago today.     The Grandmother was a great example of protector.  At 80, she faced bringing her husband, my grandfather, home from the hospital after he experienced a debilitating stroke.  Hospital personnel said that she should put him in a veteran's home 60 miles away, but she was loyal to him and to the promise she had made to him 62 years earlier "til death do us part".  It was certainly no easy task as she had the carpet changed out for a shorter shag (easier for pushing a wheelchair on), and rearranged the furniture in almost every room of the house in order to make it easier for caring for him and to fit in the new hospital bed and lift chair.     The Grandmother also was big about protecting family relationships.  Even when t

Five Minute Friday: Free

Today Kate Motaung's ( http://katemotaung.com/2015/07/16/five-minute-friday-free/ ) word for Five Minute Friday is Free.  So, here I go! Start. When I think of the word "free" so many things come to mind.  Our national freedom, hard earned through great sacrifice and the favor of God Almighty, & my spiritual freedom bought by the Blood of Jesus Christ Who gives me freedom from sin.  But there's another freedom I have been thinking about.  It all started this afternoon after I called to talk to a friend of mine about a Wednesday night kid's Bible program.  At some point as we discussed curriculum, Mrs. S said, "I know that you worry alot about things, so I don't want you worrying about this one, okay?"  I was offended.  You don't know me very well, Mrs. S, what gives you the right to think that I am a worrier?   I thought.  It nagged at me after I got off the phone.  What did she mean?  Am I a worrier?       I hate worry.  It plagues certain p
